From Heartache to Fertility to Happiness
In this blog, I share my personal fertility journey. For whatever purpose, I experienced three miscarriages before I became pregnant with Luke, now 23. Doctors explained that because of my health history, I would never have a child. And, after my first miscarriage, it seemed they might be right. If you (or someone you know) has ever been through this, you understand the heartache of this journey.
A Call to Heal & Grow
Challenges with fertility call for courage. With that in mind, the final goal is physical, emotional and spiritual healing. After I lost my first baby at 14 weeks, I could not understand why could some women had babies so easily, but not me? I felt sad and angry. The first step in healing was to embrace this challenge the way Spirit chose to “come get me.” I took the opportunity to transform my mind and body before becoming a parent. Certainly, conscious parenting requires we be our very best selves: healthy, brave, patient, responsible and strong. I was lucky to find a guide–the late Niravi Payne, one of the pioneers of the mind/body movement in fertility. She was the founder of the Whole Person Fertility Program; and loves working with women and couples who wanted babies. She appreciates that no other group is as determined and committed to personal growth.
Dumping the Toxins, Physical & Emotional
During my work with Ms. Payne, I explored family patterns. Together, we explored my unhealthy ways of relating to others, including myself. Preventing me from having a baby, they also kept me stuck in every area of life. Sharing tools that I learned is exciting. Happily, these tools can serve you whether or not you carry your own child, use a surrogate, adopt, or otherwise. Keep in mind, becoming a mother does not mean just giving birth. It means becoming the healthiest, most aware woman possible. Therefore, you are making yourself ready to consistently love, the greatest gift on earth — a child.
Tools to Support the Fertility Journey
- Cleansing the body. First, I implemented a juice fast with green vegetable juices and colonics. Next, I moved to a nutrient-dense diet, rich in natural fats, clean, organic proteins and bio-available vitamins. And finally, blasting the belief that fats are bad, and will make you fat, was key. Babies’ brains need fat.
- Bio-feedback. I had always thought of myself as easy-going. But through bio-feedback, I learned that I tend to carry a great amount of somatic stress. Surprisingly, just like my dad, I internalized stress and was unaware of it. Consequently, we both experienced the same heath issues. Stress makes the body acidic. Through bio-feedback, Consequently, I learned to identify the stress and release it. I learned that brain training, such as EMDR, or neural training, is a powerful tool to help the body and mind handle stress.
- Acupuncture. Luckily, I worked with an acupuncturist who specialized in fertility issues. She was present at Luke’s birth and saved me when it came to “back labor.”
- Family Patterns & Emotional Release Work. Niravi’s work uncovers toxic family patterns. Such patterns create issues from infertility to illness. They can span from physical disease to problems with career and relationships. Niravi teaches a safe and effective way to release patterns from the brain and body. Find this training through The Hoffman Institute in Northern California.
